History

It all started in 1979, I was born in a small mining town, Kathu, meaning “town under the trees”. As a small boy growing up in South Africa, my play ground was the vast open grass lands, big old camel thorn trees and sand of the Kalahari. Armed with a folder in my pocket we ruled (folder was mostly a rip-off swiss army knife) and that was the start of my obsession with knives.

In 1989, I’ve turned my first bowl, proudly, on a wood lath, which I still own.

In 1992, welding was on my list to “master”, as welding remains on my list to master. I realize to master a grinder was much easier.

In 1994, My leather work started. I’ve made my first belt, from pieces of leather and basic leather tools, my aunt gave me.

In 1995, I’ve started making pointy objects; with a bit of imagination it resembles a knife. With no internet and excess to the outside world my “pointy things” were the coolest ever. Later; mild steel was replaced with electric hacksaw blades. Hard as hell, I worked them into knifes with a baby grinder and a portable sander. Not the prettiest “thingy” ever, but it was a good working knife.

At the end of 1995, I’ve got my hands on a small pyrography tool; that took over my live. I’ve started burning images, of wild animals, on anything and everything I could get my hand on.

In 2002, I’ve qualified as an Electrician and started a new chapter in my life. I’ve started to work, 1 wife, 2 children and 3 dogs later, with my hobby knocking on the back of my head, and 12 years passed so quickly.

In 2014, I’ve made two of my hacksaws knifes and started to consult my “friend” Google; It’s exactly here where my hobby exploded. I was overload with information.
